Eduard Preis, a visiting scholar in the Xia group in 2024, recently has been appointed as a professor at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany, starting January 2026, and his family welcomed their first child on October 11, 2025.

Jiarong Li, an undergraduate student in the Xia group since 2024, recently received the President's Undergraduate Research Travel Award at Georgia Tech .

Kei Kwan (Jerry) Li, a Ph.D. student in the Xia group since 2022, recently received the Young Investigator Presentation Award in the division of Division of Colloid & Surface Chemistry at the ACS Fall 2025.

Qijia Huang passed his final exam (thesis defense) and became the 40th Ph.D. from the Xia group on 7/24/2025.

Jiarong Li, an undergraduate student in the Xia group since 2024, recently received the Fall 2025 President’s Undergraduate Research Award (PURA) Salary Award at Georgia Tech .

Katie Schreiber, an undergraduate student in the Xia group since 2023, recently received the summer 2025 President’s Undergraduate Research Award (PURA) Salary Award at Georgia Tech .

Dong Zhang, a postdoc. in the Xia group since 2023, recently accepted a position as a Senior Chemist and Head of R&D at Power Dream America Inc., Atlanta, GA.

Zhiheng Lyu (a former Ph.D. student) recently accepted a faculty position at The University of Alabama.

Minghao Xie (a former Ph.D. student) recently accepted a position at Argonne National Laboratory, Lemont, IL.

Siyu Zhou (a former Ph.D. student) recently received the 2025 GT Sigma Xi Best Ph.D. Thesis Award.

Seth Kinoshita, an undergraduate student in the Xia group since 2023, recently received the President's Undergraduate Research Travel Award offered by Georgia Tech.

Dr. Xia was recently elected to the National Academy of Inventors (NAI). He will be formally inducted at the 14th NAI Annual Conference to be held in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 23-25, 2025.

Seth Kinoshita, an undergraduate student in the Xia group since 2023, recently received the full-ride Stamps Scholarship offered by Georgia Tech.

Dr. Xia has been selected to receive the 2024 Linus Pauling Medal Award, which recognizes outstanding contributions to chemistry that merit national and international recognition. A symposium will be held in the weekend of October 12 on the campus of Oregon State University.

Siyu Zhou (a former Ph.D. student) recently received the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad.

Emily Yan, an undergraduate student in the Xia group since 2022, recently received the Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award. She will teach English in Taiwan for the 2024-25 year before deferring & coming back to Georgia Tech for her master’s degree in 2025-26.

Quynh Nguyen passed her final exam (thesis defense) and became the 39th Ph.D. from the Xia group on 6/19/2024. She will be working as a R&D scientist at Intel in Oregon.

Jacob Jeskey passed his final exam (thesis defense) and became the 38th Ph.D. from the Xia group on 3/1/2024. He will work as a R&D chemist for Milliken in Gainesville, FL.

Siyu Zhou passed her final exam (thesis defense) and became the 37th Ph.D. from the Xia group on 2/29/2024. She is doing Postdoc at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
